There have been so many debates and teachings in how to control the monkey mind, the mind which is always chattering and is continuous conversation with itself and undesired virtue can be broadly classified into two categories, which is, either thinking about something which in something not likeable to happen, this in medical terminology is called “hallucination”, a wish which is desired to be made true/ or not to happen in its emergence in life. But in either of the cases, either it is desired to be made into a reality or it is the thing which is not wanted to happen, there is a regal postulate which is “desire/feel” of and about the thing, either it is the benefit which is to be extracted out of it or the ill affect which it will give, if it occurs, but it keeps the person engaged with itself, which means there is use or investment of the life dwelling energies for even hallucinating “it”.
After having a broad classification on the nature of the thoughts which are predominately recurring with each of the humans, lets plunge into the details of how and why is it said by all the spiritual instructors/teachers that one should refrain from having any thoughts, may they be impressive or retrograde, but one should divorce with the very idea of even having them, and doesn’t that thought to have no thought, also a thought in itself? Well refraining from being on the either side, being theists, atheists or even sounding like a agonistic, lets address the thought and what is it which causes thought(s) and not debate on how and why there is existence and many other more romantic analogy, which mostly people do find to be substantive to be associated with. Thought is not only expression of the thing which is desired/desirable, but also lays down the itinerary of how to accomplish it, from where and how it started, well the author would express few of the many postulates which has led to this “trait” (if the reader may permit the author to use this corollary to out lay the impression). Lets have a pentimento during the infant times, when each one of us, the author and the reader, used to express hunger by virtue of cry, and with the privileged people like us (as unfortunately there are billions of infants whose cries for hunger remain unanswered) we were fed by mother or nanny, and this process was repeated when ever there was hunger with the infant which slowly but in an undiminshing impressionable manner laid the postulate, which somehow gets further modified by the progress with the age, when you are toddler then a child then what being offered is also accepted with the choice to have or turn it down, but remember all this happening within the brain of the child no teachings about it that if you feel something and able to express is in appropriate manner, then there is someone who will take care of the requirements, and the child grows further more and then there is definite congestion (as in regard the acceptability of the child is concerned) on the things being offered by the parents/guardians and the child develops further ways to express itself, and this too is happening now where else, but within the child only. Then there is introduction to studies, in which there are several subjects, which the child doesn’t finds in sync with itself or according to the child are devoid of logics, but still you have to study to get through your grade, so just memorise them, is the answer which is delivered by the parent(s)/guardian, which means to speak within yourself (as some of the readers would be doing while reading this write up, but believe me you wont be able to read that fast if you speak it loud, as reading within yourself you have practised all this while but to read aloud is no more natural of your behaviour, do try!) so hatching of a new system of having words to plans is there, and this is the thing further refines itself by each passing day or with each new encounter, and thus forms a permanent structure of its being, now all of a sudden there is a admonition that this habit (of all these years) has to be abandoned if you want well being ( which is contradictory to our sub conscious mind, as this habit made us have so many things), thats why there is struggle to part way from it, but is there a way with which this can be achieved?
Lets take a more sublime but definitely an effective measure to cope with this chattering mind, instead of trying to make it totally thought free from the very instance ( as you aren’t a mechanical thing, which can be transformed by altering the program the master IC) lets have a realistic approach to deal with this habit, and undertake this exercise be in the state in which you prefer to have while thinking, and then have then engage yourself with a thought of your choice/preference and then plan as you do and do all the things which you have been doing (within yourself) but the only change is that you remain with that “one” thought only and don’t let it fade away for another to replace, but cling on to it and remain with it till the time there is nothing left to think about/in that thought, gradually but eventually you would get bored/fed up with that thought and would like to engage yourself which is devoid of direct thinking. As the vedas narrate, it is not the thoughts which thrill you but their vivid nature, like hoping from one thought to another and then to another and so on and so forth which keeps you glued, but the time you stay with one thought your brain gets bored of it and abandons it, and when this process is repeated several times, then there is higher possibility that you would get free of inward talking/thought process.
The author would like to mention a word of caution before you adopt this methodology as enshrined in the vedas, a person with weak Jupiter (weak digestion), Saturn (having mucus related issues), sun (depression related issues) and mars (blood related issues, pain in lower body, chipped heels, foul smelling sweat in feet, varicose, or having problems with kidneys or prostrates) should undertake this exercise in presence of an expert “only”
